The object of Churches Football Association Sydney is to foster and develop the game of soccer amoung the clubs of the churches
of New South Wales. Churches Soccer Association Sydney competitions cover all age groups from under 6’s through to our
Premier League in the all age. Churches Soccer Association Sydney covers a large part of the Sydney metro area.

HISTORY
The Churches Football Association Sydney Inc (CFA Sydney) began in the early 1920s as the New South Wales Protestant Churches Soccer Football Association. It grew to be the largest soccer association in the Southern Hemisphere during the 70s and 80s, having at one time as many all age teams as the rest of NSW combined. In 2016 their was a name change to Churches Football Assocation Sydney Inc. CFA Sydney continues to provide competitions for children aged from 5 years to adults.
Many well known Australian players have played within its competitions including 1974 World Cup Socceroos Ron Corry and Johnny Warren (Botany Methodist); 1979-80 Socceroo, Greg Woodhouse (St Pauls Bankstown & Chester Hill Presbyterian); 2006 -13 socceroo, Tim Cahill (Balmain PCYC); 2008 Socceroo, Shannon Cole (Yaralla) and Matildas keeper 1989 – 2000, Tracey Wheeler (Wentworthville Uniting). Pita Rabo (Guildford McCredie Uniting) went on to captain the Fiji national side and participate in 2002 and 2006 World Cup qualification campaigns after playing in the CFA Sydney.
Other famous sporting identities to have played in NSWPCSFA (NSWCFA) have included cricketers: Richie Benaud, Brian Booth, Bobby Simpson (St Clements Marrickville), Len Pascoe & Jeff Thomson (St Pauls Bankstown), Dirk Wellham (St Lukes Concord), Mitchell Starc (Lidcombe Churches); Australian international Rugby League player: Brian Poppa Clay; High Jumper: Brandon Starc (Lidcombe Churches); Head of Soccer Australia in the 1990s: David Hill (Sydney University); ABC radio host: Adam Spencer (Gladesville Uniting) and even former Prime Minister: John Howard (Earlwood Baptist?)

Churches Football Association Sydney Inc providing Church & Community Football for over 95 years Churches Football Association Sydney Inc fosters and promotes the game of soccer football through Church, Community and Sporting groups in the greater Sydney area. Our Association has over 30 affiliated clubs with players ranging from Under 6 to Premier League age groups.
Churches Football Association Sydney Inc is a member of CFFA (Christian Football Federation of Australia) and competes in the National Titles held each year. CFA Sydney have competed in AAM, AAL, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, & Under 16 Girls and have accredited themselves with distinction.
We provide
Structured competitions for our clubs
Mini soccer (Under 6 & 7) is non-competition although games are scheduled with other clubs
Junior soccer is competition based for Under 8’s and upwards – Under 8’s & 9’s play small side fields
Junior representative teams are selected by zone to compete each year
Matches are played on SATURDAY’s ONLY (not Sunday’s)
Competition Season starts in April and concludes in August (Nationals are held in Sept/Oct)
Not for Profit organization – inexpensive football competitions for all ages
An environment for all juniors, boys & girls, of all capabilities and skills to compete equally.
Coaches focus on the development of individuals and team skills in a wholesome sportsmanlike environment.
Qualified referees are allocated to 90% of senior and junior matches each week
Referee training courses are scheduled each year
Subsidized Coaching courses are supplied
Sponsorship programs for the support of teams & clubs
To be a premium Sydney competition recognised for innovation, competitive fun and faith, all in the spirit of community values.
Provide a viable alternative to other sporting organizations that concentrate solely on grading of players
Foster the game of soccer football where players of all abilities are welcomed.
Association’s highest priorities are to focus on sportsmanship, player safety, game enjoyment and promote fellowship.
Matches are conducted under FIFA laws of the game
Strict “Code of Conduct” designed to promote safe and fair play
Foul language and unsporting behavior is not tolerated
Alcohol is prohibited at all venues
Strict compliance with the “Working with Children” legislation
All games are played on Saturdays, there are NO Sunday games.
We believe in the development and strengthening of friendship through faith and football.
